Biography
Role on DAMSS Team
Dr. Traugott provides consultation on the project for overall design and analysis issues, and he provides guidance on interacting with public pollsters and their use of new measures for measuring and analyzing abortion attitudes.
Research Interests
His primary research interests include political communication, campaigns and elections, and the use of polls to make news. He is a survey methodologist and serves on the faculty of the Michigan Program in Survey Methods. He just finished a term as an editor of the Poll Review Section of Public Opinion Quarterly, and was the invited editor of the Public Opinion Quarterly special issue on the 2012 election in the United States. He has been the president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR), and the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR).
On a Personal Note
Outside of the office, he is an avid fly fisherman for all species. He ties flies and teaches casting.
